State of Public Education
The current state of public education in the USA is depressing in comparison to other industrial nations. The only answers to this abysmal condition coming from our political and educational leadership is to throw more money at it. There are solutions to this dilemma but it requires systemic change in our approach to teaching. First is the recognition and acceptance that not every child can learn at the same rate. Our grade structure that forces every child regardless of ability into "normal" class structure results in a dumbing-down of all students.
